How many vape cartridges should I send for testing?
Tennessee requires full-panel compliance testing on every batch, using finished cartridges. Use the counts below so we have enough material the first time.
Send one full set per batch, in a single cartridge size.
Why we ask for finished cartridges
Tennessee requires vape products to be tested in the exact packaging they are sold in — the sealed cartridge — not as bulk oil. A full compliance panel needs about 10 grams of material, so we open and combine several finished cartridges to reach it. That is why the counts below ask for more than one, and why a little extra is built in.
“For testing purposes, the sample must be in the final retail sales packaging… [for] Oils for vaporization… Samples must be packaged in final packaging as it would be sold to the consumer.”
— Tenn. Comp. R. & Regs. 0100-15-.06(3)
“Acceptable packaging for testing purposes includes, but is not limited to, sealed vaporization cartridges…”
— Tenn. Comp. R. & Regs. 0100-15-.06(4)

Before you ship
- Send sealed, finished cartridges — not bulk oil. The state requires us to test your product in the form it's sold. Oil in a jar or syringe can't be used for compliance testing.
- One batch, one cartridge size per submission. Cartridge size affects the per-unit cannabinoid totals we report, so each batch must be a single size. Don't combine sizes or different batches in one submission.
- Label each package with the product name, the batch or lot number, and the net contents. Full retail labeling isn't needed for testing.
- Send the full recommended count the first time. If a batch comes up short, we have to pause and request more, which delays your results.
